HTC One M8 vs. HTC Desire Eye: Release Date News, What's the Difference?

Taiwanese tech giant HTC recently announced their newest smartphone, the HTC Desire Eye, at the New York launching event. The upcoming device will arrive in stores early November.

Now people are wondering what exactly is HTC's aim in releasing yet another Android handheld device in a market given that bears similar devices already. Save the casing material and design, both HTC One M8 and the Desire Eye have the same Full HD LCD display. They also have the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor that both clocked at 2.3GHz and have 2GB of RAM.

Speaking of internal memories, the two devices didn't differ that much. They have 16GB versions while One M8 also has 32GB. Battery-wise, the latter has 2,600mAh while the other has 2,400mAh battery.

In sizes, they only differ by about 1mm with One M8 measuring 9.4mm and Desire Eye at 8.4mm. As with the weight, its 160 grams for One M8 vs 154 grams for Desire Eye. The two also shared the other usual aspects like dual-front stereo speakers, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and a microUSB port, just to name a few.

What's the Big Difference?
Much to the surprise of those who attended the event, the huge difference can be accounted to the camera.

The HTC Desire Eye boasts a front-facing 13MP camera. Packed with dual-tone LED flash and positioned in the center, the new device from HTC literally markets to selfie addicts who are looking for ways to improve their photos.

As indicated in the report by Android Headlines, the front camera even has the capacity to accurately track more than four faces.

"It also works for video chatting, making sure that everybody's face stays in focus. A simple, but really great idea," the site added.

Talking about price and availability, the Desire Eye is reported to be only available on AT&T and is said to cost around $420 off-contract.

The HTC One M8 on the other hand, can be obtained on all major U.S. mobile carriers and could worth from $500 to $650 off-contract.
