HTC One M9 Release Date, Specs, Rumors: Taiwan Company's Next Flagship to Arrive With Better Specs

The HTC One (M8) was by far one of the best-performing smartphone devices to arrive in 2014. Now, it wouldn't be long before the Taiwan-based tech giant will once again announce their next flagship, presumably the HTC One (M9).

There have been a lot of talks about the purported device pointing to its release date, specs, and design. Here's what we've heard so far.

First off, there's the speculation that the One (M9) will probably be unveiled sometime in March 2015. This, as found out, will coincide with the previous release date (March 25, 2014) for its predecessor, the HTC One (M8).

Moreover, the date will also fall just in time for the Mobile World Congress, which will take place in March 2-5 of next year.

As for its design and specs, not much has been said. However, numerous tech sites concur to the idea that the next flagship will certainly take another huge step.

Whispers surrounding the upcoming device indicated that the One M9 will be encased in a new casing made from an "unspecified composite material" that will give the handset its new look and feel.

Under the hood, it is reported that HTC One M9 will arrive with a 5.2-inch QHD screen panel. It will also run with a 64-bit Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 SOC processor with 3GB of RAM.

The device will also have, out of the box, the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and that it will be available in 64GB or 128GB storage variants.

Camera-wise, the HTC One M9 will follow the lead of its predecessor but with a much better picture-taking capabilities.

Pocket-Lint.com even reported an interview of HTC's official, Symon Whitehorn, with Vodafone in April 2014.

"Optical zooming in a smartphone is not too far off at all for HTC. I can't give too much away, but within 12-18 months we'll see huge advances in phone optics," Whitehorn said. This suggests that HTC's next step will now focus more on the "optical zoom" department.
