HTC Reveals 4 New Smartphones for the US Market

HTC has unveiled not just one, but four new smartphones as part of its Desire line which will be available exclusively for the U.S. market. All four smartphones are considered to be part of the company's budget or mid-range phones which will cater to a specific segment in the market – those who are looking for reliable smartphones at a reasonable price.

According to a report in Tech Times, the four phones are called Desire 520, Desire 526, Desire 626 and Desire 626s, which will all have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor under the hood. These new handsets will be available through various mobile carriers in the US.

The report described the phones as "pocket-friendly," with plastic frames and as mentioned above less powerful specs, as compared to the high-end HTC One line up of smartphones, which are of course the company's top of the line flagship phones.

Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC America said this about the new Desire phones, "Our Desire smartphones bring the premium experiences, performance and style of our flagship smartphone at an incredible price."

All the new phones as mentioned will have a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor with 1.1 GHz and 4G LTE connectivity. It will be pre-installed with Android 5.1 Lollipop together with HTC's Sense 7 UI. Battery capacity for all handsets will be at 2,000mAh.

In terms of camera power, all phones will have an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. The Desire 626 is the only one with a more powerful front-facing camera at 5-megapixels, while the other three only have a 2-megapixel selfie camera.

The main differences between the handsets are with their screen size and pixel resolution, RAM and internal storage. The Desire 520 has a 4.5-inch display with 854 x 480 pixel resolution, only 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB internal storage. The Desire 526 will have a 4.7-inch display with 540 x 960 pixels resolution. It is slightly faster than the 520 with 1.5 GB of RAM, but the same 8 GB internal storage. Both the Desire 626 and the Desire 626s have the same 5-inch display with 1,280 × 720 pixels resolution. The Desire 626s has a 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory. The Desire 626 on the other hand will have 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage.

The Desire 520 will be exclusive to Cricket while the Desire 526 will be available through Verizon prepaid. The Desire 626 and the Desire 626s will be available with more carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost Mobile, MetroPCS, Tracfone, Cricket and Virgin Mobile.
