HTC Set To Launch New Mid-Range Phone And It Might Be The HTC One X9

Taiwanese device manufacturer HTC has teased on its Weibo page that they will be launching a new mid-range phone that has a 13 megapixel main camera capable of RAW image and with Optical Image Stabilization. The Weibo post also said that the device might be the successor of the HTC One A9 and a Tech Times report speculated that it might be the rumored HTC One X9.

According to the listing in Weibo, the phone has the specifications of a powerful, mid-range phablet. The device is rumored to have a 2.2 GHz octa-core processor paired with 2 GB of RAM. A report in Gadgets 360 said that the processor is a MediaTek Helio X10.

The device's display is said to be a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a 1,920 by 1,080 pixels resolution. Its main rear facing camera, as earlier mentioned, is a 13 megapixel shooter with OIS and 4K video recording support, while its front facing camera is an UltraPixel camera with 5 megapixels.

Internal storage is pegged at 16 GB, with support for expandable storage via a microSD card slot. A 3,000 mAh battery powers the device.

According to the same Gadgets 360 report about the rumored HTC One X9, images of the device were recently leaked online via a Chinese publication. The images revealed that the One X9 may come with a brushed aluminium unibody which is not unlike the HTC One A9. The One X9 however is pictured to have the signature HTC BoomSound dual front-facing speakers, which the One A9 did not have. According to the report, the new device may come with capacitive navigation buttons rather than on-screen navigation buttons.

Earlier reports pointed to an early 2016 launch, possibly within the first quarter. HTC however has yet to confirm if any of these reports are accurate.

The company's successful HTC One A9 phone caused a stir within the smartphone industry, with Apple accusing HTC of copying the new iPhone design with the One A9. HTC countered by saying that Apple was the one who copied their design.
