Huawei Honor V8 Gets TENAA Certification

The third largest smartphone manufacturer, Huawei, is set to announce the Huawei Honor V8 on May 10. But the device's specs have leaked as it got listed on China's certification body TENAA, showing the phone's specs which include a Quad HD display and a dual rear camera set-up. According to a Tech Times report, while the dual camera set-up was not a surprise, the Quad HD display definitely veers away from current trends.

Huawei's CEO Richard Yu earlier announced that having a Quad HD display on a small device did not "make sense" as the difference between QHD and Full HD is really not noticeable and having a QHD screen would require higher power consumption. Because of this, Huawei was not expected to upgrade their phones' screens anytime soon.

With the Honor V8 however, this thinking may have changed. According to the report, the TENAA listing indicated one model or variant of the Honor V8 will sport a Quad HD display and it will be on the higher-speced model with model number KNT-AL20, which will have a 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution for its 5.7-inch screen. Under the hood, this high-end model will rock a 2.5 GHz octa-core processor (brand unknown) paired with 4 GB of RAM and internal storage of 64 GB.

The two other versions with model number KNT-AL10 and KNT-TL10 have octa-core processors that run at 2.3 GHz paired with 4 GB of RAM, but only 32 GB of internal storage. Both devices have 5.7-inch screens with full HD resolution or 1,920 x 1,040 pixels. All three devices are powered by 3,400 mAh batteries. The camera set-up is also the same for the three, with two 12-megapixel rear cameras and 8-megapixel front facing shooter. All devices run on Android Marshmallow.

A Digital Trends report cited that earlier rumors that the cameras of the Honor V8 will be Leica cameras are not true.

Huawei will reveal more about the device during its May 10 launch event.
