Huawei P9 News: May Be Unveiled March 2016, With Fingerprint Scanner And "Curved Edges"

According to the latest rumor, Huawei's follow-up to the P8, its flagship phone, may be unveiled in March 2016. If the report is true, the device may also sport a fingerprint scanner and a dual main camera set-up and "curved edges," which is not the usual design of Huawei's devices. The rumor comes straight from a Chinese site called Mobile Dad.

According to Mobile Dad, as reported in Tech Times, the P9 will still have the same size screen as the P8 at 5.2 inches. Resolution, however, was not indicated. The new device is expected to be better than the P8 in terms of specifications.

Under the hood, it is rumored to be powered by an octa-core Kirin 950, which is Huawei's proprietary chipset. This processor is paired with 4 GB of RAM, which is better than the P8's 3G RAM. The Kirin 950 is also Huawei's latest chipset that they internally developed for their devices.

The device is also rumored to be equipped with the latest security feature for smartphones which is fingerprint recognition. This provides extra security for the user so that the phone's data will not be accessed by unauthorized users of the phone. It is also important for mobile payment systems, as fingerprints can be used for authentication of mobile purchases.

While the P8 has a 13 megapixel main camera, the P9 does one better with a rumored dual-camera set-up. According to the report, the main camera is also equipped with laser auto focus technology.

Another rumor pointed to the phone having the latest Android OS, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-installed.

Along with this rumor about the P9 comes another rumor about a larger model of the P9, called the Huawei P9 Max. This device is said to have a huge 6.2 inch Quad HD display, with 2,560 x 1,600 pixels resolution.

Huawei, however, has yet to confirm any of these reports about these rumored devices.
