Hugh Hefner Funeral Date, Details: Playboy CEO To Be Buried Next To Favorite Cover Girl

While it may still be too early to lay out Hugh Hefner's funeral plans, the pop and cultural icon already knows where he wants to be laid to rest several decades before his passing.

According to reports, Hefner will be buried in a mausoleum located inside the Westwood Memorial Park, the same resting place of his first cover girl and most favorite Playmate, Marilyn Monroe.

Hefner reportedly purchased the lot in 1992 for $75,000, almost four decades after he published the first issue of Playboy in 1953.

Details about Hefner's decision to buy the burial lot was discussed in an interview with Playboy back in 2000. In the said interview that was quoted by New York Daily News, Hefner believed that being buried where the Hollywood legend was also situated could make him feel special.

He also revealed that he has a lot of other friends who were also buried at the Westwood Memorial Park, including Mel Torme, Dorothy Stratten, and Buddy Rich.

Other popular personalities were also reportedly laid to rest in the same cemetery, including Natalie Wood, Eva and Zsa Zsa Gabor, Farrah Fawcett, James Dangerfield, and Dean Martin, among others.

The 91-year-old Playboy Magazine's founder and publisher died of natural causes on Wednesday, Sept. 27, in his iconic Playboy Mansion in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles while surrounded by family and friends.

He was survived by his wife Crystal Harris and children Christie, David, Marston, and Cooper, who released a statement about his father's passing through social media saying that his dad lived a full and colorful life as a media and cultural icon.

"He defined a lifestyle and ethos that lie at the heart of the Playboy brand, one of the most recognizable and enduring in history," the young Hefner stated. "He will be greatly missed by many."

More details about the Playboy mogul are expected to be announced by his family in the coming days.
