Ice Cream Sandwich: Android OS Coming to Xperia Line of Sony Smartphones (VIDEOS)
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will soon be compatible with Sony Ericsson's Xperia line of smartphones.
The Xperia inventory includes the Xperia arc and arc S, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo and neo V, Xperia mini and mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active, Xperia ray and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman.
The Sony Store officially made the Xperia arc S and the Xperia neo V available in the United States today.

The Xperia arc S comes with a 1.4-gigahertz processor, 4.2-inch screen, 8.1-megapixel camera, and 3D and 2D sweep panorama capabilities.
The Xperia neo V has a slower processor, 3.7-inch touch screen, 5-megapixel camera with 16x digital zoom, and a front-facing camera.
The arc S sells for $549.99, while the neo V is $349.99. Both models come unlocked, and three-color variations can be found for each smartphone.
Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread is currently the main operating system on both systems.
Martina Johansson, a Sony employee, provided more information on the company blog.
"There have been a few questions here on the blog and in our support forums regarding our upgrade plans beyond Gingerbread. We can today confirm that we plan to upgrade the entire 2011 Xperia portfolio to the next version of Android known as Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich. We are working on merging our current Xperia experience with the new features in Android 4.0. More detailed information regarding this upgrade, timing and global availability will be communicated in due course here on the blog,” said Johansson.
