'Insurgent' Movie News: 'Divergent' Sequel to Feature Love Triangle

Fans of the "Divergent" movie based on the books by Veronica Roth knows that it's only five months before "Insurgent," the second movie in the trilogy, is going to be released worldwide. It was reported that filming began in Atlanta this year on May 27 and ended on Sept. 6.

With the premiere date fast approaching, some have taken to reading the book of the same title to get a feel for what's to come in the movie, but will "Insurgent" stay true to the book, or will it have some room for a few creative tweaks?

"You have to honor the material for the first film because you have a fan base, but when you come to the second one, if you've done well with the first movie, you now have the ability to think outside the box," Theo James, who plays the role of Four, said.

According to Entertainmentwise, the film will introduce a character — Edgar, played by Jonny Weston — that will cause a rift between Tris and Four. The website was quick to point out that this seems to be one common formula among most movies adapted from popular young adult books, such as "Twilight" (Edward-Bella-Jacob love triangle) and "The Hunger Games" (Peeta-Katniss-Gale triangle).

Lead actors Shailene Woodley (Tris) and Theo James will be back to reprise their roles, as well as Jai Courtney, Ansel Elgort, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Ashley Judd and Kate Winslet. Rounding out the cast are new comers Octavia Spencer, Naomi Watts, and Suki Waterhouse.

"As she searches for allies and answers in the wake of the uprising, Tris and Four are on the run. Being hunted by Jeanine Matthews, the leader of the Erudite faction, Tris and Four will race against time as they try to figure out what Abnegation sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris faces one impossible challenge after another as she unlocks the truth about the past and ultimately, the future of her world," the official synopsis reads.

"The Divergent Series: Insurgent" will premiere on March 20, 2015.
