Interim President Appointed at New Brunswick Seminary
Yesterday, the New Brunswick Theological Seminary (NBTS) of the Reformed Church in America announced the election of its interim president, who was appointed by the seminary's Board of Trustees. The Reverend Dr. Edwin G. Mulder, General Secretary Emeritus of the Reformed Church in America, will assume his position beginning March 28 -- the day Dr. Norman J. Kansfield will step down from presidency after his faithful service of 12 years.
Dr. Mulder, a graduate from Central College in Pella, Iowa and Western Seminary in Holland, Michigan, has pastored in 6 churches from 1954-1983. He also served as the denominational minister of evangelism from 1964-1968 and as president of General Synod in 1979 and 1980.
Furthermore, he was the third to serve as a general secretary of the Reformed Church as he took service from 1983-1994.
His most recent position was at the Marble Collegiate Church in New York City where he served on the pastoral staff ministering young adults. Despite his retirement from full time ministry, Dr. Mulder continues to serve at the church as a special project consultant.
In conjunction with Dr. Mulder's appointment, the Board also authorized the appointment of a search committee for the next President of the Seminary.
