iOS 5 Battery Problem: iOS 5.0.1 Does Not Work, Apple Users Complain (VIDEO)

Apple’s attempt to fix battery problems through its release of its iOS 5.0.1 yesterday appears to have fallen short. On the company’s Apple’s support forum, customers were complaining a lack of improvement.

Apple Experiencing Battery Problems for iOS 5

One customer said: “I'm trying to mimic the average usage to what I use at work. I listen to podcasts for hours. Before the 5.0.0 update, I would go for about 8 hours and get from 100% to 75-85% on my 3GS. After the update, I would go from 100% to about 20% in the 3GS; big difference.”

Another customer added: “Hate to say it, but I'm registering to add to the above comments. Battery life was pretty bad on the 5.0 Worse... MUCH worse now on 5.0.1.”

A third customer expresses deep frustration: “Updated to 5.0.1 last night and my battery life seems even worse than before! My phone dropped by 4% overnight in flight mode! I have had it out of flight mode since 6.30am (at which time the battery was at 51%), and it’s now 8.30am and its down to 35%.This is with absolutely no usage - just standby on my desk! And all settings are still off, siri raise to speak, location services off, Bluetooth off, no push email etc etc."

The customer added: " I now think I'm going to have to return my iPhone and go with another brand as it's getting a bit too ridiculous now.”

A fourth customer wrote, “After updating I thought the issue was fixed as sending 2 messages + 20 mins of music only sapped the battery by 1% (started day with 100%). Great! But then connected to Wifi and sent 8 or 9 messages and looked at BA app for a few mins and was down to 86%. Genius bar later. At least now I know it is a hardware problem.”

Many customers have been expressing similar frustrations; Apple may need to go back to the drawing board in this instance for the iOS 5 battery.
