Apple released its latest operating system Wednesday called the iOS 5. Users who install the new system on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch can expect a new notification center, iTunes match and Wi-Fi sync amongst other updated features.

iOS 5 users can expect a renewed notification center. The notifications in iOS, the previous operating system, used flashy pop-ups that users found obtrusive to their online activity.

In iOS 5’s new notification center, the notifications appear in the dropdown status bar, similar to the notification center of Android devices.

In addition to a revamped announcement system, Apple created iCloud and iTunes match. It’s being compared to an updated MobileMe that syncs more types of data across a user’s many devices as fast as possible.

Subscriptions to iTunes match are $25 per year for up to 20,000 songs. According to Lifehacker.com, the release of iTunes was pushed back until late October.

Users are especially anticipating the Wi-Fi synch feature of iOS5. The feature allows you to sync your device over Wi-Fi exactly like when you have it connected to iTunes.

One of the more hidden features of the iOS 5 is Siri, which is only for the iPhone 4S. Siri has the power to control devices, compose and send text messages, play music in your library and also look up information and perform complex calculations.

iMessage is another feature of iOS 5. Very similar to the iPhone’s SMS text messaging app, this means that all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users can all communicate with each other via text message regardless of whether they own a mobile device or not. iMessage is also reminiscent of Blackberry messenger.

Apple customers who install the iOS 5 on their devices can expect other features that include reading content, maximizing productivity, quick photo elements, easy photo editing, quick internet browsing and seamless social media integration.
