iOS 8 Battery Life Problems, Tricks to Improve Battery Life

There's no need to tell that the new operating system launched by Apple had brought forth a whole new pack of amazing features. However, numerous reports citing complaints from iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch users indicated that the battery life of their devices dwindled much faster since they turned on to iOS 8.

However, several tech sites and support forums dedicated to Apple hand-held products shared helpful tips and tricks on how to improve the battery life of your devices that are running on iOS 8 – iOS 8.0.2. Here's a round-up.

BGR recently said that though reducing the brightness display of your Apple device could somehow lessen the battery usage, still it won't be enough. The site advised going to iPhone's setting, General>Accessibility and turning "Grayscale" ON.

iDigital Times also listed several pointers in solving battery life problems. For one they mentioned turning off location services.

GPS, which is needed for location services, requires a high amount of power. The way to do this is to simply go to Settings>Privacy>Location Services, and swipe off any app or system service that needs location tracking.

They also mentioned setting Auto-Lock to 1 minute, turning off any extra sounds and keyboard clicks, disabling Bluetooth, turning off Wi-Fi when not needed or nowhere near a hotspot, and doing away with dynamic wallpapers.

ZDNet, meanwhile, mentioned a trick on how to fully get the most of your battery's juices. The way to do this is by its resetting power cycle. Once or twice a month, you should completely drain out the battery of your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad until it won't turn on. After that, charge it back while it's still off.

This trick will reset the power cycle of the battery and re-calibrate the power indicator.

More power tips include fully-closing apps that aren't currently used. Also, it is best to monitor the battery usage of each of the apps in your phone. Simply go to General>Usage>Battery Usage. This way, you can assess which app is really responsible in draining down your phone's battery.
