iOS 8 Publicly Available on Sept. 10 After iPhone 6 Release

Apple will be busy in the next few months, as they will be releasing one device after another before the start of the holiday season. If there's anything in common with all these devices, it will be the iOS 8 running them.

The Cupertino company spent quite some time during the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this year explaining the features of their new iOS 8.

The keynote suggests that the new Apple operating system is simply the iOS 7 design with new features. Rather than a redesign, the company is looking to update the system and tie everything together with the singular theme of "convergence."

The new operating system will probably arrive on the company's servers on Sept. 10, following closely to the alleged release of the iPhone 6. With this, it can be safely said that the iPhone 6 will definitely run on the new iOS 8.

Developers can probably get their hands on the OS earlier than consumers, sometime on Sept. 3. But for regular consumers, the iOS 8 will come out on the indicated date.

The OS doesn't cost anything and can be downloaded for free, but as with new software, compatibility will be limited to the fairly new hardware. Apple has indicated in their keynote that the iOS 8 will be available for the iPhone 4 and higher only.

Aside from the iPhone, the to-be-released iPad Mini 3 and its two previous predecessors, as well as the iPod Touch 5th generation, will be getting the new operating system as well. The iPad Air of course is not excluded from the compatibility list and will most likely carry over with the iPad Air 2.
