iOS 8 Rumors: Software to Come With Innovative Health App

iOS 8 is rumored to come with a new innovative software app known as Healthbook.

This new app will come pre-installed with the software and can track data points such as the user's blood pressure, hydration, heart rate and other statistics including glucose levels. It will also send reminders to users who need to know to take their medicines at certain times during the day.

It will utilize multiple user interface cues from Apple's own Passbook app that is currently used to store loyalty cards, coupons and other materials normally found in physical wallets. The app's interface is a stack of cards that can be swiped between and each of them represents a different fitness or health data point. The Healthbook icon is quite similar to Passbook's.

Apple is reportedly designing iOS 8 with iWatch in mind, according to 9to5Mac. Sources have informed the publication that the iWatch and iPhone will be heavily reliant on one another for health tracking. The iWatch will also include some mapping abilities and will have the ability to measure statistics that the smartphone cannot measure on its own.

Apple's Maps app will be improved greatly as it will now include transit directions, however, it will take a good amount of work to get it ready for the software's official launch. It may even arrive shortly after iOS 8.

Apple met with the FDA last month to discuss mobile medical applications, according to a report from The New York Times. The company has been attempting to push something through the organization and has run into a few obstacles along the way. These meetings could have been used to address these problems.

iOS 8 will make its debut at this year's WWDC in June and will probably hit devices during the fall.
