iPad 3 Displays to be Produced by Sharp

Apple has decided to add Sharp to its list of screen manufacturers for its upcoming iPad 3 tablet, according to a recent report in The Wall Street Journal.

Apple is continuing its attempt to diversify component suppliers for its products. The source for the WSJ also added that Apple is set to launch the iPad 3 sometime next year and that Sharp’s Kameyama No.2 plant in central Japan will make LCD panels for the upcoming tablet.

The source also revealed that Apple plans to invest a good amount of money in this partnership with Sharp producing accessories for its products.

An earlier report this year stated that Apple struck a billion dollar deal with Sharp to supply displays for its products.

Apple’s choice to work with multiple component makers is rooted in the company’s desire to avoid not having enough parts to create iPads and iPhones.

Sharp specializes in producing liquid crystal displays for tablets, smartphones and high definition televisions.

Sharp currently makes displays for Apple’s iPhone handset and is expected to continue to do so with the next generation model.

Wall Street Journal previously reported that the sixth generation iPhone will be drastically redesigned and introduce a new way of charging the smartphone.

The next iPhone is also rumored to include a 4-inch display along with an aluminum casing.

It is expected to launch sometime next year along with the iPad 3.

The iPad 3 is rumored to include a Retina Display, the super clear screen technology that Apple introduced on the iPhone 4, as well as a new A6 chip for faster processing speeds.

Both the new iPhone and iPad are expected to run on quad-core processors included in the A6.
