iPad Air 2 Rumors: Replica of Tablet Appears in New Photos

New photos of an alleged replica of the second generation iPad Air reveal some of the new features that will be available on the device.

The new iPad will feature Apple's famed Touch ID sensor. The frame will have some design adjustments including a new speaker grille with a single row of larger holes on each side of the Lightning port, according to these pictures posted up by Nowhereelse.fr.

The volume buttons are now recessed into the edge of the case and no longer stick out of the device's shell. The mute switch is no longer where it was as it seems to have been replaced by a small hole. It could just be a pilot hole used to guide the button through.

A recent report from Korean site ETNews revealed that the second-gen model will feature the same featherweight design as the original with its 9.7-inch Retina LCD display at 2048 x 1536 resolution. The slate will get upgraded elsewhere as it will come with a new 8-megapixel rear camera instead of the 5. It will also have a larger sensor for improved low-light performance and its version of iOS 8 will cater directly to the tablet's size when it comes to taking pictures.

The iPad Air 2 will include an upgraded version of Apple's A8 processor that will improve both performance and battery life. There is no official news of a release date at this time, but the tablet should drop sometime in the fall if Apple decides to follow is regular launch schedule.

The company will most likely release the new iPad Air alongside the third-generation iPad mini. Apple used to launch its tablets in the beginning of the year, but changed its schedule in 2012 after it decided to introduce the small model and rushed out the 4th gen iPad.
