iPhone 5 Release Date: 5 Reasons the iPhone 4S is Like a New Smartphone

While many Apple fans seem to be disappointed in the iPhone 4S not being the iPhone 5, there are still significant changes that will keep most happy and make the phone seem new.

Perhaps the coolest of all features, the 4S is offering a voice operated system known as Siri the Assistant.

Siri will allow users to speak into the phone to set dates, make plans, check the weather and much more.

Two convenient additions to the iPhone 4S are the Notification Center and iCloud Storage.

The Notification Center brings all notifications to a slide-down panel. It helps with the user’s navigation by instantly taking you to the updates rather than having to tab or closeout.

iCloud will for the first time sync all of your Apple accounts together wirelessly and automatically. All apps, photos, calendars, and contacts will be shared and stored on every device.

Another feature is the new 8-megapixel 1080p HD video camera. It will feature face detection, reduced blur, and improved color, and editing capabilities from the camera.

Lastly, the A5 (iOS 5) Chip is what makes this device truly exceptional. It is the newest processor and will deliver faster functioning of the phone including graphics loading seven times faster.

The iOS chip is essentially the brains of all "i" products. There have been over 250 million sold worldwide, and 61 percent of these sales are for mobile phone browsing.

The chip also helps power the user’s apps. 18 billion apps have been downloaded since the iPhone launched with it averaging about 1 billion downloads a month.

The iPhone 4S is slated for release Oct. 14.

This news comes a day (Oct. 5) after Apple innovator, Steve, Jobs, passed away at the age of 56.
