Also, with the addition to the new iPhone 4S models, and the 8GB iPhone 4, Apple will be offering the iPhone 3GS for free with a contract.

The 8GB iPhone 4 has been rumored to be in the works for a fall release for quite some time.

The iPhone 4 remains the highest selling smartphone in the United States.

The iPhone 4S will sport some interesting upgrades.

Along with having the processor of the iPad 2, the 4S will include an 8 megapixel camera capable of filming in 1080p.

“For the iPhone 4S, we set our sights on competing not with other phones, but with point and shoot cameras.. So we’ve added an 8 megapixel sensor that shoots 3264x2448,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing. “We’ve also added backside illumination with a sensor that gathers 72 percent more light.”

The 8GB iPhone 4 will still include a 5 megapixel camera which is capable of filming in 720p HD.

Although the technology is about to become outdated, the camera included on the iPhone 4S is a force to be reckoned with.

The filming hardware on the device has been one of its biggest selling points.

The iPhone 4S will also be available on three networks including AT&T, Verizon and newcomer Sprint.

It was not made clear by the announcements at the event if the 8GB iPhone 4 would also be on Sprint.
