iPhone 5 Release Date: Can Apple Compete With Galaxy Nexus?

The iPhone 4S impresses in many departments including the new Siri, the voice navigation system which can perform virtually any task by the user simply speaking into the phone.

But in terms of display, Apple seemed to hold back on giving the phone a larger screen to compete with Android smartphones.

Google and Samsung revealed their new Galaxy Nexus smartphone today which includes an impressive 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display that topples anything Apple has put out in terms of size.

The iPhone 4S while impressive in its own right, fails to implement any major upgrades in terms of screen size since its display is the same as its predecessor’s, the iPhone 4.

During the unveiling of the Galaxy Nexus at the “Mobile Unpacked” media event in Hong Kong this morning, video was shown on the new device in a 16:9 widescreen ratio.

This type of display can rival most HD televisions.

Apple’s iPhone 4S is not the most impressive device for watching videos.

Aside from its display’s clarity, the screen size remains average.

But there is still hope for the iPhone.

Rumor has it that the tear-drop shaped iPhone 5 is still on its way.

This device is expected to sport a thin-tapered design which will make the new Apple smartphone as light as the Galaxy Nexus.

It will also have a much larger display which will rival the new Galaxy Nexus.

Samsung’s new smartphone features a smaller bezel so the screen reaches the very ends of the device’s body.

Apple’s iPhone 5 will include the same type of design, hence the tear-drop shape.

The Galaxy Nexus will also be available on LTE and HSPA+ networks.

The iPhone 5 is also expected to run on 4G.

But Apple is intends to perfect the technology by including a smaller, less clunky antenna to catch these faster 4G networks.
