iPhone 5 Release Date: iPhone 4S Available, No Mention of iPhone 5

Apple has announced the upcoming release of the iPhone 4S for October 14, which was disappointing news to many consumers expecting a redesigned iPhone 5.

Rumors have circled the internet for quite some time regarding the iPhone 5 which would take on a radically new design.

The iPhone 5’s new look was supposedly based off of a prototype that went missing in the Shenzhen district of China.

The prototype was actually an iPhone 4 stuffed with guts for a tear-drop shaped iPhone 5 which Chinese manufacturers used to create silicon cases for.

Another prototype supposedly went missing in a bar in California this past summer.

That model was never recovered, but did stir up a great deal on controversy over the device.

With millions of cases on the market for a device that’s not coming out, at least not any time soon, Apple has disappointed a great amount of Chinese manufacturers who took a pre-emptive step in producing the accessories.

Along with the case leaks, an Apple employee was also spotted back in July using a device that looked similar to the iPod Touch.

That employee was photographed by someone who claimed that the device he was using was an iPhone 5 since the worker was trying to conceal the handset.

Analysts were spot on when they predicted Apple would only be releasing an upgraded iPhone 4 this year.

Although nothing was said regarding the redesigned iPhone 5 at Apple’s “Let’s Talk iPhone Event,” there is still a chance of this rumored device coming out next year.

It is not clear what name Apple will choose for its next smartphone, but iPhone 5 still seems the likely choice.

The company’s new iPhone 4S will be available for pre-orders starting this Friday.
