iPhone 5 Release Date: No Siri For Next iPhone?

The iPhone 5 is expected to be a revamped Apple smartphone with updates to its software and external chassis.

Industry experts speculate that this could also mean an update for its artificial intelligence system, Siri.

Siri has been ported onto a number of older Apple devices, including the iPhone 4, the iPad and the iPod Touch; however, Apple has stated that Siri is meant to be exclusive to the iPhone 4S, the latest generation iPhone.

Developers who have ported Siri report that Apple is not allowing Siri to connect to its servers when implemented on a device other than the iPhone 4S.

Many were disappointed that the iPhone 4S retained the chassis of the iPhone 4, but rumors continue to project that the iPhone 5 will features a larger screen and a curvier, teardrop shape.

Technology website 9to5Mac recently speculated that the iPhone 5 was not released in 2011 because the software updates that Apple planned could not fit into the slimmer form proposed for the smartphone.

Comments from Foxconn, iPhone manufacturer, suggest the iPhone 4S was initially meant release as early as 2010 to gage consumer's opinions of Siri before it officially debuted on a 2011 release of the iPhone 5.

Apple officials said “hardware/software compatibility” is among the many reasons why the company has not adopted 4G LTE capabilities for its smartphones. However, experts think Apple will introduce LTE in 2012.

The iPhone 5 is expected to release between mid-2012 and mid-2013.
