iPhone 5 Release Date: T-Mobile Joins Samsung Fight to Stop Apple Banning Galaxy S2

T-Mobile USA has backed Samsung in a battle with Apple in which the iPhone maker is trying to block the sale of various Galaxy products, including the highly popular Galaxy S2.

The Deutsche Telekom subsidiary has called on Apple to bring a halt to its attempts to ban the Korean technology king’s products, saying the dispute would have a detrimental effect on business.

According to Bloomberg, T-Mobile USA said, “The timing of such an injunction on two popular consumer products that will help anchor its 2011 holiday sales would unnecessarily harm T-Mobile and thousands of U.S. consumers.”

Just months ago Apple filed for a preliminary injunction in U.S. courts against Samsung's 4G devices-notably the Galaxy S 4G, Infuse 4G and Droid Charge smartphones, along with the Galaxy Tablet 10.1.

Apple has argued that its patents have been infringed by Samsung; citing technology related to the screen, handset design and packaging.

Verizon also recently expressed its concerns about Apple’s ongoing lawsuit, and has sided with Samsung saying that the company has the 4G technology that customers are demanding.

Verizon Wireless said in its filing: “The investment depends on consumers having access to devices that can make use of that network. The accused Samsung devices are among the few products that can access Verizon Wireless's next-generation high speed network.”

It added: "It takes considerable time and effort to develop any 4G product-normally, much longer than a year. Any requirement that Samsung redesign its products in light of an injunction may cause long delays before the redesigned 4G devices are available to consumers."

Verizon Wireless began selling the iPhone 4in February.

However, T-Mobile does not currently carry the phone, and has announced that it has no immediate plans to sell the imminent iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5 is rumored to be the central focus of an Apple event just days away, and it has been touted that its release could come sometime in October following the event.
