A picture that displays a front plate, nano-SIM tray, and other components for the upcoming iPhone 5 has surfaced on the internet today.

This new picture seems to once again confirm that the new iPhone will feature a nano-SIM as other images have been leaked showing the same component this week.

Other components for the device such as the home button, sensors, volume control buttons, and the protection element can also be seen in the image.

Nano-SIM card trays that are made for the next-generation iPhone are already arriving in factories and have been leaked to the public.

By analyzing these trays, it can be accessed that the new module is smaller than its predecessor, making it occupy less space inside the smartphone.

This should allow engineers to have additional room to fit more components, such as more integrated circuits or antennas inside the device. The appearance of the trays also confirms the long-rumored feature.

The first reports of Apple shrinking the iPhone's SIM card down started back in March.

An article in the Financial Times stated that Apple wanted to gain an advantage over other smartphone makers by being the first company to have these nano-SIM cards.

MacRumors also reported that Apple had submitted a proposal for a standardized SIM card design that was significantly smaller than the micro-SIM used in the iPhone 4S and iPad in 2011.

Motorola, Research in Motion and Nokia are also trying to implement these "nano-SIM" cards into their devices.

Judging from all of these recent leaks, the iPhone 5 will have a smaller SIM, 4-inch display, and a smaller dock connector. It will also most likely be 4G LTE and feature a Retina screen with a high-definition resolution.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 5 on Sept. 12.
