iPhone 5S, 5C Price Drop: Discount Sale as iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Apple Watch are Launched

The iPhone 6 is already upon us with Apple announcing its release today, and the sale of the phone itself on Sept. 19. With all the hype surrounding the release of the iPhone 6, various retailers of the old iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S have been putting price slashes and steep discounts on their stocks in hopes of selling it off before the iPhone 6 arrives.

Amazon for instance has put a 29-percent discount on their iPhone 5 stocks bringing the price down from $700 to $490, where customers can save up to $200. The price cuts have already been happening a few months back, ever since the rumors on the iPhone 6 release were circulating on the web.

The price drop however, is not a guarantee that customers will still buy the old iPhone 5. The iPhone 6 has to have a larger screen, a faster chipset, a better camera, as well as a Apple Pay, iOS 8 and much more. Though looking to be more expensive, the iPhone 6 is looking to be much more appealing than its older brother.

Getting rid of iPhone 5 stocks may prove difficult for retailers and even Apple since the flagship phone has already been out on the market for two years. In today's standard, it's already an old phone. On the other hand, iPhone 4 owners may opt to turn-in their older phones for a newer iPhone 5 with a $250 credit.

The iPhone 5 is a decent phone despite its age and with the price drop, some users may opt for the cheaper and reliably proven phone instead of the newer and more expensive iPhone 6.

The announcement is took place at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, California, and it started at 10 a.m. PDT. Apple itself streamed the unveiling on our website.
