The newer iPhone models including the iPhone 6 could end up featuring flexible displays when they are released.

Apple recently posted up a job listing for a Display Specialist that would be hired to create something innovative.

"Apple Inc. is looking for a Display Specialist to lead the investigation on emerging display technologies such as high optical efficiency LCD, AMOLED and flexible display to improve overall display optical performance," read the listing.

The company removed the listing shortly after posting.

Apple has been investigating various methods of incorporating flexible displays into its mobile devices for quite some time, according to 9to5Mac. The company has filed a handful of patents and patent applications related to the matter over the last year. Rumors for a flexible Apple device have heated up since plans for the iWatch began to surface.

This job listing basically confirms that Apple will be releasing either an iPad or iPhone with a flexible display sometime in the not so distant future.

Two new patent applications were also filed by Apple detailing flexible devices that could change states as a user bends or twists the device, according to 9to5Mac.

However, Apple often files for patents for products it will never release in order to secure a hold over that area. The job listing is a better confirmation that Apple will go the flexible route.

Samsung, who is Apple's fiercest competitor, has already shown off some of its flexible displays with its now YOUM screens. The Korean giant has yet to release a product using the technology, but will most likely have something out in the next few years. Apple seems to be preparing for that day and will have to find a better way to incorporate it in order to compete.
