iPhone 6, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 Fingerprint Sensors to Be Manufactured by TSMC

Fingerprint sensors for the iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 will be manufactured by TSMC.

The company has created the first batch of Touch ID fingerprint sensors for each of these devices, according to a new report from cecb2b.com. The site claims to have received this information from supply chain sources.

The report also states that the fingerprint sensors are being assembled by TSMC subsidiaries Xintec and Suzhou Semiconductor.

The most anticipated device out of these has to be the iPhone 6.

A physical mock-up of the smartphone was posted on an Italian website earlier this month.

In these images, a black mock-up version of the iPhone 6 is being compared to Samsung's flagship Galaxy S5. They appear to be very close in size. See them here.

The mock-up iPhone was created by a case manufacturer who claims that this version is the final one that was used to make the cases and other accessories the right size.

It features rounded edges, rectangular volume buttons, a rounded rear flash, protruding camera and a power button that is located on the right hand side of the device that makes it easier to operate with one hand.

Apple is expected to launch two new iPhones this year: a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch version.

The launch of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 has been pushed back due to issues with its battery, according to a report from earlier this month.

Apple is struggling to find a sufficient battery that measures at 2 mm or less that will fit the device's "very thin" profile, according to a new report from Taiwan's Industrial and Commercial Times.

The report also states that Apple suppliers are calling the 5.5-inch model the "iPhone Air." This device would join Mac's line-up that also consists of an iPad Air and a MacBook Air.
