iPhone 6 Plus vs Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Comparison: Review of Specs, Features of World's Top 2 Phablets

Samsung's latest phablet, the Galaxy Note 4 has finally been released and as it stands, Apple's only fighter against this phablet is its own oversized smartphone, the iPhone 6 Plus. Seeing as the Galaxy S6 is still months away from release, the iPhone 6 Plus will have to settle going toe-to-toe against the Galaxy Note 4.

The iPhone was released in September last month alongside its newest operating system, the iOS 8. There are two variants of the phone, the 4.7-inch variant and the the iPhone 6 Plus, a bigger 5.5-inch variant. While the smaller variant is certainly a step-up from the iPhone 5 in terms of size, the iPhone 6 Plus is more of a phablet than a regular sized smartphone.

The Galaxy Note on the other hand is a full-fledged phablet with a display size of 5.7-inches, 2-centimeters bigger than the iPhone 6 Plus.

The iPhone 6 Plus has a full HD display resolution of 1920 x 1080 coupled with the Retina display. The Galaxy Note 4 on the other hand has gone a step up and is equipped with a QHD display resolution of 2560 x 1440. Even with the slightly bigger screen, the Note 4's QHD display allows it to have a larger pixel density than the iPhone 6 Plus.

In terms of power, the iPhone 6 Plus is run by its own 64-bit A8 chipset with a dual-core 1.4GHz processor and a PowerVR GX6450 GPU. It comes in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB internal storage options but doesn't have microSD card support as it always has. Apple has also stuck with 1GB of RAM.

The Note 4 on the other hand runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset with a quad-core 2.7GHz processor and an Adreno 420 GPU. It only has a 32GB storage option but has microSD card support of up to 128GB and has 3GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat but is likely to be upgradeable to Android L when it comes out.

Comparing the two on paper, the Galaxy Note 4 looks to be the better phablet with its higher specs – less expensive than the iPhone 6 Plus too. Still, to each his own and it depends on which phablet users prefer.
