The iPhone 6 release date was leaked earlier today by a prominent German carrier.
The company, Deutsche Telekom claims that Apple will begin offering the flagship smartphone on Friday, Sept. 19. This may just be a guestimate based on past iPhone launches so the information should be taken with a grain of salt.
The last two iPhone releases took place on the 20th and 21st of September, which were both Fridays. Apple seems to be putting out two smartphones this year and with that, there could be two separate launch dates. Apple will most likely send out invites to the release event a few weeks before. That will be the only real indication given for an official day.
A new report from Digitimes states that Foxxconn will be the primary manufacturer of the iPhone 6 supplying 70 percent of the expected shipments of the 4.7-inch version in 2015. The 5.5-inch model will enter into production August, according to the same report.
"The 4- and 4.7-inch iPhones will be the main sales force of Apple for 2014. Foxconn's plants in Zhengzhou, China are expected to start supplying the 4.7-inch model in July and start manufacturing the 5.5-inch one in August," Digitimes writes.
This production schedule points to September as the earliest launching point for the smartphone. The 5.5-inch model is expected to debut a bit later and it will be a premium model that's $100 more.
Pictures of the aluminum mold used to make cases for the iPhone 6 leaked onto the internet last week revealing more about its design.
The mold is being used by various accessory manufacturers and was leaked by MobileDirect.ro. It represents the general shape of the device for the purpose of making cases to match-up to its size and physical features. It contains holes and depressions that allow it to be attached to the phone.
