iPhone 6 Rumors: Device to Ship With 4.8-inch Display

The iPhone 6 will ship with a 4.8-inch display, according to a new rumor.

Timothy Arcuri of Cowen and Company claims that the new device will ship with a display at this size which will be a significant increase from the iPhone 5s and 5c. He cited sources familiar with Apple's supply chain for the information.

Arcuri also revealed that the new iPhone will come with the 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard that first began appearing in Apple products in 2013. This feature offers Wi-Fi speeds that are up to three times faster than existing wireless networks that reach over 1 Gigabit per second.

Other features for the iPhone in Arcuri's report include "key software innovations" in 2014 with iBeacon, Touch ID, and Passbook which is used as a mobile payment solution.

A new iPhone 6 concept video created by Ran Avni and Alex Casabo from Concept-Phones shows off a version of the device with a 4.7-inch 1080p display which could give hints as to what a model at a similar size will look like.

This iPhone was developed based off many of the recent rumors that point to a larger display for the device. The video shows the handset at multiple angles that has a design that resembles the iPhone 5s with chamfered edges and a similar overall design.

However, the larger display changes the look of the bezels. The camera has been shifted to the middle of the iPhone and new pill shaped volume buttons create a larger area for users to press. The new sized screen changes the size of the frame to be 130mm tall and 63mm wide. This version is also 2mm thinner than the iPhone 5s.

The iPhone 6 is rumored to be released sometime in the fall of 2014.
