iPhone 6 Rumors: Gold Model Confirmed Once Again by Credible Source

Many of the latest iPhone 6 rumors have been pointing to the company launching the next-gen model in gold.

Supply chain sources have confirmed this color to Reuters claiming the company will release the device in this new and bold color.

This model was also confirmed by TechCrunches MG Siegler last week in a new research note.

Yes there will be a gold iPhone," he said. "That's the latest I'm hearing from multiple sources after several weeks of rumors and possible component leaks suggesting the same thing. At first, I couldn't believe Apple would break from the tradition of offering the simple choice: black and white (or "slate" and "silver" if you prefer for the iPhone 5) for their flagship device."

Siegler goes on to say that gold felt a bit too gaudy, however, a few compelling arguments changed his mind about the company using the color.

He states that the gold rear shell seen in last week's leaked photo is not a completely accurate representation of the color. Instead it will be more champagne-like, rather than gold. Siegler feels that Apple is using this gold model to upsell customers in emerging markets where the company's new iPhone 5C is expected to take off.

"A number of folks have noted that a gold iPhone would likely do well in the Chinese and Indian markets as well, where the color is very popular," said Siegler. "This is especially interesting given the talk about the "iPhone 5C" being key in these markets as well, with a presumed unsubsidized lower price point."

Apple is expected to unveil its new line of iPhones at a media event on Sept. 10. The devices will launch just a few days after they are announced along with iOS 7.
