iPhone 6s Release Date, News: Apple's Next-Gen Handset to Be Released One Week After Keynote

Not a day goes by without any iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus rumor or update. Just recently, it was reported that Apple's latest reiteration of the iPhone will begin hitting the shelves a week after the designated keynote event.

Citing sources from Foxconn, it was revealed byM.I.C. Gadget that the OEM company has already begun "mass producing the new iPhone." The site noted that the release date of the next-gen handsets will be on Friday, Sept. 18. That would be one week after the official unveiling, which will be held on Sept. 11.

As for the unit itself, it is speculated that the Cupertino, Calif.-based tech giant will likely be focusing on internal changes. It could retain the basic external look of the current iPhone.

Earlier this week, a host of leaked photos posted via 9to5Mac showcased what appears to be the outer shell of the iPhone 6s. From what has been seen, the microphone, speaker, and connector ports are of in exact position from the previous version.

Its Space Gray color scheme further suggests that the changes on the 6s and 6s Plus will be internal. However, 9to5Mac noted that the final assembly could feature a much darker gray option. This, according to the site, will match with the color scheme found in the Apple Watch.

Taking cues from the upcoming release of the iOS 9 beta version, it is also believed that the new phones will support pressure-sensitive Force Touch input, a feature that has been introduced earlier on the Watch and the Retina MacBook.

There's also the talk of a much faster LTE processor from Qualcomm, an improved camera capability, and an increase of storage capacity.
