iPhone 6s Rumors, Specs: New Apple iPhone Could Be First in Years to Get Higher Camera Resolution

The iPhone is probably one of the most popular smartphone brands in the world today, and Apple has definitely reaped its rewards for designing it.

However, if there is one thing that some Apple fans have been complaining about the latest iPhones are the lack of any upgrades in the camera department.

According to the details found in GSM Arena, the iPhone's 8MP primary camera has been with the device since the iPhone 4s, which was announced way back in 2011. During that time, the flagships were the HTC Sensation, and the Samsung Galaxy S2. Nokia was still a power to be reckoned with, while Blackberry was still selling its popular QWERTY handsets.

Fortunately for fans of the Cupertino manufacturer, rumor has it that Apple will finally be upgrading the iPhone's camera sensors to 12 megapixels.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the upcoming iPhone 6s could be the first iPhone to get an increase in camera resolution since the iPhone 4s. The rumor came from Chinese websites which quote Japanese media.

In the rumors, the new Apple will allegedly switch from the traditional RGB sensor, to RGBW. The added White sub-pixel will reportedly improve the low-light performance of the device. Furthermore, the 12MP sensor will be made by Sony.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6s Plus in a press event in September.
