Bradley William Stone, the 35-year-old Iraq war veteran who allegedly shot his ex-wife and five members of her family to death over a reportedly longstanding child custody dispute in Pennsylvania Monday, remains on the run, a day after police discovered the ghastly murders.

The last sighting of Stone was late Monday night in Doylestown Township, Pennsylvania, where authorities reported that a resident fired shots at a man who matched Stone's description according to The Morning Call.

Doylestown Township police explained that a man fitting Stone's description – white male, about 5-foot-10 and wearing camouflage clothes – demanded the car keys of a man walking his dog at about 7 p.m. Monday while armed with a knife. The man who was armed with a gun, however, sent Stone running when he fired off a few rounds at him.

The Christian Post reached out to both the Montgomery County Detective Bureau and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office which are handling the case for updates on the manhunt Tuesday morning but was told there was "nothing new."

Authorities say Stone's bloody rampage began in Souderton at about 3:30 a.m. Monday. When he was done with his ex-wife Nicole Hill, her sister, Patricia Flick; Flick's husband, Aaron; the Flicks' 14-year-old daughter, and Hill's mother and grandmother all lay dead after being shot at close range.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman said the Flicks' 17-year-old son was also injured in the Souderton shooting. During the mayhem, which later forced school closures, Stone took his two daughters from his ex-wife's apartment in Lower Salford Township and left them at a former neighbor's house in Pennsburg where he resides. He then moved on to take more lives.

While Ferman did not give a motive for Stone's rampage, neighbors in Lower Salford told The Morning Call that the Iraq veteran who was injured during combat in 2008 may have been triggered by his tumultuous relationship with his ex-wife.

"They've been fighting for years, real bad," said Michelle Brewster. "He's been tormenting her. She's gone to the police and she has told everybody, 'He's going to kill me.'''

According to court papers, Stone filed for divorce from Hill in March 2009 and they were officially divorced in 2012.

In 2013, they fought in court over child support levels and preschool placements. They were at it again most recently, sparring in court this month over custody of their two daughters and child support payments.

Stone filed an emergency petition for custody of his children on Dec. 5 while his ex-wife filed a counterclaim on Dec. 9.
