'Iron Fist' Rumor: Doctor Strange May Appear in Netflix Series

Marvel Studios is set on introducing a new group of heroes called The Defenders within the next two years or so. It has already started with "Daredevil" which started airing on Netflix recently, which generated good response from critics and fans alike. Next in line are other Defenders shows such as Iron Fist, AKA Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.

"Iron Fist" will get its own series on Netflix sometime in 2016. The series is in the early stages of development with no lead star cast yet and no showrunner appointed. Despite this, rumors are already going around that another Defender may show up at some point in the series.

According to a report in Screen Rant, Doctor Strange who is to be played by British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, will make his first appearance in the series. This report was based on another website that boldly made the claim. The report's sources however could not specify if Cumberbatch himself will play the part or if a body double will do. It says that at the very least, Cumberbatch will voice the character when it appears in the series.

If this rumor turns out to be true, a Cinema Blend report says that it will be a good way to introduce the character of Doctor Strange and the mystical world he brings in to the Marvel Universe. The character of Iron Fist is also a purveyor of mystical powers which he got from mystical human-like aliens, which connects perfectly with that of Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange on the other hand is a character who is able to wield mystical powers after he meets The Ancient One in the Himalayas in his search for a cure to his tremors. He uses his powers to fight against dark forces in the world.

In addition to this, Marvel is gearing up for the big movie debut of Doctor Strange. Benedict Cumberbatch is currently preparing for production of the "Doctor Strange" film, due to bow in theaters on November 4, 2016.
