'Iron Man 4' Confirmed by Robert Downey Jr. During the Ellen Show

Finally, after months of saying that there weren't any plans for an "Iron Man 4," Robert Downey Jr, who plays as Tony Stark in the films has confirmed that he was in the middle of negotiation with Marvel for a fourth installment of the superhero franchise.

RDJ revealed the news during his recent appearance on the Ellen Show."

I know there's gonna be a bunch more Marvel movies and… they have big ideas of how to do it best, and we're in the middle of negotiations, and blah blah blah…" he said before trailing off.

"So… yes," with RDJ replying with "Okay, yes."

Before his appearance on the show, he said that he would only appear in "Iron Man 4" if his friend Mel Gibson were to direct the film. Later on in his Reddit Ask-Me-Anything thread, he revealed that what he said about Gibson directing the film was "an offhanded remark to a journalist and friend."

"I have other projects in mind for Mel and I – sooner than later the Marvel Roster will be made public and all questions will be answered," he added.

While RDJ isn't occupied with anything "Iron Man 4" related, a new film starring the actor will be coming out Friday and is titled "The Judge." Apparently, with him confirming negotiations with Disney and Marvel for a new Iron Man title, he is subtlely promoting his next film.

This marketing move is understandable, considering that all RDJ has played over the past five to seven years has been nothing but Marvel films. If RDJ manages to find himself off of the franchise, he will need his new films to become a hit if he wanted the same kind of money he was making with the Marvel franchises.
