Iron Man 4 May Not Happen, Says Robert Downey Jr.

After months of being off the radar, news about the rumored "Iron Man 4" is swirling and it doesn't sound like there's much hope of the film being made. There won't be any "Iron Man 4" at the moment, according to Tony Stark/Iron Man actor himself, Robert Downey Jr.

"There isn't one in the pipe. No, there's no plan for a fourth 'Iron Man,'" he told Variety Sunday.

The 49-year-old actor was recently seen in Toronto to promote his new film "The Judge," which is the first film project of the newly-founded production company called Team Downey – a company under the Warner Bros which Downey and his wife Susan opened on June 14, 2010.

The "Tropic Thunder" star is currently signed with Marvel and Disney for two "Avengers" sequels which are slated to arrive in theaters in the summer of 2015 and 2018.

He has been reported to have been reluctant to be in any other superhero films, "Iron Man 4" included.

When Variety asked further if he would "let" other actor play for his beloved role, Downey Jr. responded with a laugh.

"I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I'm casting director for Marvel," he added.

Earlier in July, RDJ shed light to some rumors about the purported "Iron Man 4," giving strong indications that the plans are somewhat on the roll, though.

"When things are going great, there's a lot of agreement," he explained.

When asked further if he'd allow someone to take the "belt" for him for the upcoming sequel, he sounded like he wouldn't mind playing the billionaire playboy once again.

"It's that thing of, Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed? Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out," Downey Jr. said.

Meanwhile, current news about "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" specified that principal photography is already done in the U.K. and it is now slated to be released on May 1, 2015.
