Iron Man 4 Release Date, Cast Latest: 2019 Hints Dropped at Comic Con 2014, Robert Downey Jr. On Board
Fans of the Iron Man movie series still have high hopes that Robert Downey Jr. will return as Tony Stark for an Iron Man 4 sequel.
Although the Iron Man 4 movie has not been officially confirmed yet, all reports indicate that the movie will almost certainly be going ahead, with a May 3, 2019 release date currently being touted.
Marvel Studios recently revealed their calendar of (unannounced) films during Comic Con 2014 marking their line-up of movies up to 2019. An analysis of the dates indicates that assuming Iron Man 4 is definitely on the cards, then the most likely premiere date on the list would be May 3, 2019. Good news for fans, although a near-five year wait will obviously lead to some disappointment.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Downey Jr. hinted that he is still open to play the role. He was quoted as saying, "It's down to Kevin (Fiege, Marvel Studios president) and Ike (Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment) and Disney to come to us with what proposal is, and that's on us to agree or disagree."
However, he also gave a strong indication that things would move forward positively: "When things are going great, there's a lot of agreement."
And it's really quite evident that "things are going great" for both parties. Each Iron Man sequel has grossed more than the last one and that indicates more and more fans are following the franchise. "This has been a really good one and it feels good and we're having a good time," the actor said.
Having earned $75 million this past year, Downey Jr. was once again named the highest paid actor on the Forbes list. This is mostly attributed to the success of the Iron Man series. Coming in second is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson with $52 million for his acting roles and producing gigs.
It appears than unless something throws the current harmony off, Robert Downey Jr. is more than happy to cling on the belt and still don the iron mask.
"It's that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?" he said. "Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out."
