'Iron Man 4' Movie to Arrive in 2020? Robert Downey Jr to Meet a New Iron Man?

Despite the lack of updates about the film, fans hope that "Iron Man 4" is still happening. Now, rumors are swirling around that Robert Downey Jr.'s fourth "Iron Man" film is one of the three unnamed Marvel movies to hit theaters in 2020.

When Marvel Studios released their Phase 3 lineup of films, it did not include "Iron Man 4." Since then, some fans have raised concerns that the film will not happen anymore. However, there are those who still hold on to Downey's statement from an interview in 2014, where he said that the much-awaited fourth solo film of the genius, playboy and rich superhero will hit theaters in the future. In fact, there are speculations that "Iron Man 4" will arrive in 2020.

In Marvel Comics, the Tony Stark aka Iron Man's storyline is heading towards meeting and being impressed with a 15-year-old student named Riri Williams after learning that she had reverse-engineered his old armor. Based on the comics, the superhero will pass on his status as Iron Man to the teenager.

While the storyline is based on the comics and not from the actual script for the "Iron Man 4" movie, some fans are intrigued with the film also possibly giving that direction a go. If that is so, then Stark will allegedly no longer be the center of the fourth "Iron Man" movie.

Speculation about Williams being the main protagonist of "Iron Man 4" continue to grow and some "Iron Man" bloggers even posted a fan-made video of Williams taking Stark's place as Iron Man. In the clip, the young apprentice is building her own red metal suit and flying while wearing it. While some fans seem to be satisfied with this unexpected twist, many are not happy with the idea of Stark not being the main protagonist of the franchise.

Marvel has not confirmed anything about the movie yet so fans should take these speculations with a grain of salt.
