Is God Really Perfect?

. . . just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do. 1 Peter 1:15

Do you know someone who never does anything wrong or never makes a mistake? Certain people have searched for many years for someone who is perfect. They never found such a person.

The Bible says in 1 John 1:5, " . . . God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." This verse means that God is holy and pure. There is no sin at all in Him. There is not even one little bit of badness in God. He is set apart from sin–set apart from all that is evil or bad. God and sin are opposites like light and darkness. God is holy. The Father is holy; the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, is holy; the Holy Spirit is holy.

There is someone who is perfect–that is God! Only God is perfect. We have all sinned and sin separates us from God. Because God is holy, He has to punish sin. But He gave His Son to die for sin so that we could be forgiven and made holy. When you believed in Jesus as your Savior, you were forgiven of your sins and made holy before God. Aren't you glad?
