Is the Huawei Mate S an iPhone 6 Plus Rival?
Huawei is facing off with Apple with its recent unveiling of its latest flagship, the Huawei Mate S. The Chinese company showed off the new device at the IFA 2015, during their company presentation, according to a report in Tech Times.
The new device was officially announced and a comparison with the iPhone 6 Plus was instantly made because of the device's many similarities with Apple's phablet. Even Huawei CEO Richard Yu himself made the comparisons during the presentation.
According to the report, the Huawei Mate S is also equipped with Force Touch technology, a feature that Apple has been boasting about even before they officially announce their new iPhones on September 9. Force Touch is able to differentiate between different types of pressure applied to the screen. With Huawei announcing the Mate S earlier, this technically makes it the first smartphone to have the Force Touch.

The new device also has a 5.5-inch display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution underneath Gorilla Glass 4, which is basically the same as the iPhone 6 Plus. It has an all-metal frame and also sports a fingerprint scanner.
Huawei Mate S however does better in other specs, according to another Tech Times report. For example, its processor is a Kirin 935 octa-core processor which is paired with 3 GB of RAM.
Camera-wise, it has better cameras as it comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera.
The phone's fingerprint reader can be found at the back of the device. It offers more functionality than that of the iPhone however, since it also helps users control apps on their phone, aside from its usual function in mobile payments or device security. Dual SIM support is also available on the Mate S.
It will be initially launched in 30 countries, including China, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, among others. On September 15, pre-orders will be accepted in Western Europe via Vmall.eu. The 32 GB variant (in Titanium Grey or Mystique Champagne) will sell for €649 or about $729, while the 64 GB variant (in Prestige Gold or Coral Pink) will be priced at €699 or about $785.
