ISIS news: Big shot ISIS recruiter believed to have been killed this week

Prominent ISIS recruiter Junaid Hussain has been reportedly killed this week during a U.S. drone strike.

According to the report first slated on CNN, the U.S. forces and intelligence community is in the final stages of confirming that Hussain, who is linked to the Garland, Texas cartoon contest attack, has been killed. A U.S. official said, "We have high level of confidence he was killed."

Believed to have been heavily involved in initiating several attacks against the United States, Hussain is a British-born recruiter and also a well-known hacker.

Hussain was said to have been killed in Raqqa, the location that was recently self-declared by the ISIS to be its capital. A northern Syria location, Raqqa has become a "safe haven" for the extremist group, according to some U.S. authorities, thus making it easier for the strike to target the prominent ISIS member.

Officials said the drone strike was actually targeting Hussain as he traveled in a vehicle after the authorities got tipped of his whereabouts. The U.S. forces watched and observed at first to confirm if he is indeed the target before they finally laid out the strike.

Several reports also indicate that Hussain stepped out of his vehicle when he was hit by a missile from a U.S. drone.

Headed by the U.S. military, there are still numerous processes to be made to confirm that Hussain was indeed killed during the said strike.

Hussain is not the first prominent ISIS member who was reported to have been killed. Last week, a drone strike killed the top ISIS deputy to Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, Haji Mutazz. Since Mutazz was one of the heads of the organization's top men, his death is a huge success to the army.

In addition, a U.S. official said, "This is a great intelligence success," referring to the reported death of Hussain, as he has been tagged as "a high-value target in ISIS."
