In terms of design, the supercar has a soft and smooth upper part while below the tornado line, surfaces are sharper to provide aerodynamics. For designers and engineers, the overall goal was to produce something that had forward styling but was also functional.

"We put out best skills into the production of the first car using some of the finest production methods and engaging out high skilled workers. At the same time we engaged deeply in the latest technologies in electric and electronics. Therefore this first car is showcasing our expertise gained in our history," said Massimo Bovi, head of Italdesign's Pre-Series Center.

Italdesign Automobili Speciali's first model will be powered by a 5.2-liter V10 engine that is expected to produce over 600 horsepower. It will be able to go from 0 to 62 miles per hour (mph) in just 3.2 seconds and attain a top speed of over 205 mph.

The supercar's powertrain will be mated to a dual-clutch transmission.

Only five units will be built and they will be manufactured at the Italdesign factory in Moncalieri, Italy. The production vehicles are then expected to arrive by the end of 2017. Pricing has yet to be announced.

For the meantime, be sure to check out the supercar's debut at the Geneva Motor Show, to be held from March 9 to 19.
