iTunes 12 Beta Download: New Beta of OS X Yosemite 'Same as the Previous Beta Versions'

Apple released the latest version of the iTunes 12 Beta for both developers and OS X Yosemite beta testers Thursday, Oct. 2, according to reports. This followed after the Monday's release of the Yosemite Golden Master Candidate and a fourth public beta.

Described to include an "elegant new design," the iTunes 12 release doesn't contain any substantial modifications aside from a few user interface redesign, Mac Rumors reported. First introduced in July, the October beta launch remains unchanged from the previous build which was unveiled last September.

According to AppleInsider, the iTunes 12's media storage, purchase and playback platform now have "translucent windows, reorganized navigation bar and new library viewing options, among other UI adjustments."

"There do appear to be some new icons in the preferences screen, but for the most part it's the same as the other betas we've seen," 9to5mac said in their review.

"Also, the graphic and the function of the miniplayer's expand/collapse button is different," one user added.

The new update is also seen to support the newly rolled out cloud service from iOS 8 including Family Sharing. This feature allows content sharing between up to six family members that are registered under the same credit card account.

The iTunes 12 is slated to be officially released and be available for public alongside OS X Yosemite sometime this fall. Other reports indicated exact date which is late in October or early November.

Developers and AppleSeed members can currently get a hold of the latest iTunes 12 beta download through Softwarre Update mechanism in OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
