Janet Jackson, the 47-year-old recording artist, is still happily married to billionaire businessman Wissam Al Mana despite rumors about the pair getting divorced.
"The rumors about their marriage are a lie," a source close to Jackson told Entertainment Tonight. "They are very happy and very much together. In fact, the couple has recently purchased an even larger home in New York."
Jackson took to her website, JanetJackson.com, to announce that she and Al Mana have been married since 2012 and denies reports that they spent an extravagant amount of money on their ceremony.
"We were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony," the note on Jackson's website titled "Wissam and Janet Happily Married" read last year. "We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy. With love, Wissam and Janet."
La Toya Jackson, the 56-year-old entertainer, television personality and sister of Janet, previously revealed that she learned about her sibling's nuptials in the news.
"You know what? I didn't know that Jan was married until I heard it in the media," Jackson said during a recent promotional luncheon last year, according to Essence.com reports. "It's true! Most of the family members-- no one really knew. Not at all. You'd be surprised how you'd find out things in the media."
However, she seemed to believe that the way she found out about Janet's marriage was normal.
"I know that in my family a lot of times you keep things private because you don't want anybody to know," she explained. "Nobody knew, really. I have not met him at all."
Although Jackson did not hear about her sister's marriage firsthand, she insisted that everything was fine with her siblings.
"It'll be fine! When it's there, it's fine," Jackson said in the Essence.com report. "I don't know what it is, but everything's fine!"
