Jared Leto In Drag Again For New Movie

Jared Leto has suited up again for his role in the upcoming film "Dallas Buyer's Club."

The drama follows Leto as Rayon, a transsexual woman with AIDS.

In order to prepare for the role, the actor was forced to lose a substantial amount of weight, among other drastic changes to his appearance.

Promoting "Dallas Buyer's Club" this week, Leto was featured on the cover of Candy magazine wearing a full face of make up and a light-pink cropped wig.

It is not the first time fans have seen the 30 Seconds to Mars front man dressed in drag.

Last year, Leto shared a picture of himself in full make up with shaved eyebrows. The image featuring his weight loss alarmed fans, and Leto responded to the hoopla while speaking to Vulture.com.

"Your body goes through weird stages," the actor explained. "Sometimes it's hard to hold on to water. But for me, it's not about the most weight I can lose; it's more to represent the character. I'm focused on what it means to be a transsexual woman. Historically, people have done it [fasting] for pursuit of self, to achieve a meditative state, so I'm hoping for that, and not other things."

Leto was not the only actor to endure extreme weight loss for the Jean-Marc Vallee-directed film; his co-star, Matthew McConaughey, also shed over 30 pounds for his role was Ron Woodroof.

Both McConaughey and Leto sparked concern after debuting gaunt looks that left them barely recognizable to fans, and McConaughey also commented on the challenging weight-loss process.

"I feel good now," said McConaughey speaking to HitFix. "Overall, [I] probably got 35 percent less energy. But the tough part is there have been plateaus."

The "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days" star explained that losing the weight was a struggle that surprised him.

"Getting past 170 [pounds] was really hard, but then once you get to 167, the next seven comes off easy," McConaughey divulged. "Getting past 160, really hard, but then you fly down to 150. Getting past 150 was really hard and then, bam! Got down to 143 and that's where I want to be."

Known for his typically active lifestyle, the "Magic Mike" star admitted that the weight loss has altered his vigor.

"Once you get past the plateau, your body seems to understand, 'Ok, this is where we're leaving now, this is where we are,' and so the energy rises," said the actor, according to HitFix.

"Dallas Buyer's Club" will also star Jennifer Garner and Steven Zahn. The film is expected to hit theaters on Dec. 6.
