Jared Leto Posts First Green-Haired Photo as Joker for 'Suicide Squad'

Jared Leto revealed his new look for his role as the Joker in "Suicide Squad" when he posted the latest in a series of photographs showing his green hair and red lips. The actor has been updating his social media fans and followers on his gradual transformation into the villain.

Leto, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for 2013's "Dallas Buyers Club," had been sporting his dark chest-length hair up until February when he posted a photo on his Instagram account showing him getting a haircut just around the time he signed on to play the Joker.

His next photos for the month show him with close-cropped platinum-dyed blonde hair during a European tour with his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, which segued to the most recent photograph of Leto which appeared in his Snapchat account with his current look a copy of the Joker's iconic acid-green hairstyle coupled with red lipstick. To evoke the look of the arch-villain, Leto even had his eyebrows lightened.

While grainy, the Mashable photo of Leto shows him closely mimicking the Joker's signature appearance, despite not being in full make-up. It followed the Twitter image teased by "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer depicting the actor behind a Nikon DSLR in imitation of a DC comic book cover art of the Joker in the same pose.

Leto will be joining the rest of his anti-hero castmates, including Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevigne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Raymond Olubowale, Karen Fukuhara, Adam Beach, Jim Parrack and Scott Eastwood when the film opens in theaters on August 5, 2016.

"Suicide Squad" is scripted by Justin Marks and produced by Richard Suckle and Charles Roven for Warner Bros.
