Jason Aldean Cancels Three Concerts In Light of Las Vegas Mass Shooting

American country music artist Jason Aldean canceled several of his upcoming concerts following the mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada, last weekend.

"As a result of what happened in Las Vegas this week, we have decided to cancel this coming weekend's shows. I feel like out of respect for the victims, their families and our fans, it is the right thing to do," Aldean said in a statement on his official website.

In the light of the mass shooting – now considered the most fatal in modern American history – Aldean decided that it would be best to cancel three of his concert stops in Los Angeles on Oct. 6, in San Diego on Oct. 7, and in Anaheim on Oct. 8.

Fans who purchased tickets for the canceled shows will be granted refunds.

The country music star added that what happened led to a very "emotional time" and said it was only fitting to let everyone who was involved grieve and be with their friends and family.

Aldean goes back to touring on Oct. 12 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. However, the music artist added it would still not be an easy one. He added: "Our first time back onstage will be a very tough and emotional thing for us, but we will all get through it together and honor the people we lost by doing the only thing we know how to do – play our songs for them."

The mass murderer and gunman Stephen Paddock aimed and open fired at the thousands of people attending the Route 91 Harvest – an annual festival that mainly celebrates country music – while he was positioned at a hotel room in the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel that he turned into an arsenal of multiple weapons and gun tripods.

The mass shooting took at least 59 lives and injured more than 500 people. Paddock reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
