Jay-Z and Kanye West will release their long anticipated “Watch the Throne” album next week.
Their new album will be available on iTunes on August 8, and in stores on August 12. Anyone buying tickets for their Watch the Throne tour online will receive a free digital copy of Watch the Throne.
The album was originally announced to be an EP back in August of last year, but evolved into a full length LP, and became the most anticipated hip hop record of 2011.
The album was recorded in Paris, Australia and New York.
It has been reported that veteran hip hop producers RZA of the Wu Tang Clan, Swizz Beatz, Pete Rock and the Neptunes all contributed to the project.
Up and coming producer Lex Luger also had a hand in Watch the Throne and expressed his excitement to MTV Wednesday.
“They reached out to me for the ‘See Me Now’ record; I co-produced that with Kanye,” the Virginia producer said about Kanye’s ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ bonus track. “So after that he wanted some more material. I flew to New York, and we were just vibing for a little while. He picked, like, two or three tracks, but he really liked that ‘H.A.M.’ track. It’s a blessing.”
H.A.M. was the first song released off the collaboration album back in the winter of this year and will now be included as a bonus track on the deluxe edition of Watch the Throne.
The two rappers also recently announced the Watch the Throne tour to promote the album shortly after releasing their song Otis. Although the tour was originally set for 24 cities the duo cut it back to 17 according to pre sale ticket information on LiveNation.com.
There have also been rumors of tension between the two recently after Jay-Z commented on New City radio station Hot 97. “Kanye’s my brother,” he said, before admitting, “Yes we get on each other’s nerves. That’s part of pushing each other. ..People don’t like to be pushed. It’s annoying. So of course there are times when we’re in the studio, we’re yelling, but that’s about it.”
The tour is set to kick off on October 29th.
