An open letter reportedly written by Jay-Z announcing that he will no longer call women derogatory names went viral on Monday.

In the letter, the rapper and new father speaks about his previous use of the “b-----” word that many artists in the culture use to describe women.

“Before I got in the game, made a change, and got rich, I didn’t think hard about using the word b----,” the letter stated, in a Rolling Out magazine report. “I rapped, I flipped it, I sold it, I lived it.”

However, the rapper reportedly wrote about having a change of heart concerning the word after the birth of his daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.

“Now with my daughter in this world I curse those that give it,” the letter stated. “I never realized while on the fast track that I’d give riddance to the word b----, to leave her innocence in tact.”

The letter detailed the impact that leaving the word out of Jay-Z’s vocabulary would have on his daughter.

“No man will degrade her, or call her out her name the women won’t despise her and call her the same,” the letter reads.

Although it outlined the importance of leaving the word out of the rapper’s music and conversation, it spoke about how he would miss using it in his music.

“I know it’s gonna miss me cuz we been together like Nike Airs and crisp tees,” the letter stated. “When we all used to hang out front singing 99 problems but a lady ain’t one.”

Still, the letter reportedly written by the famed rapper said he would focus on moving forward from using the word.

“I’m so focused on your future, the degradation has passed,” it stated.

Blue Ivy Carter was born to singer Beyonce and Jay-Z on Jan. 7. The pair released an official statement on Beyonce’s website thanking their fans for support.

“It was the best experience of both of our lives,” the couple said in a statement. “We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.”
